The birth of tradition in Nové Město nad Metují

When a factory dedicated to the development and later production of wristwatches opened in Nové Město nad Metují in the autumn of 1949, the foundations of a tradition still alive today were laid. At the birth of the legendary brand, whose name became synonymous with wristwatches, stood 15 workers equipped with machine tools from Meziměstí near Broumov, where during the war they had been used to manufacture timing fuses for the army. However, before the well-known PRIM designation appeared on the watches, the very first Czechoslovak wristwatch model was created under the name SPARTAK.

Five years of development, the first model and timeless inspiration

The year was 1954 when the wristwatch that emerged after 5 years of intensive work, trials and testing finally saw the light of day. There was little experience, but all the more enthusiasm and determination. The result was a model whose design remains inspiring even today. That is why we decided to enrich the Spartak collection with a new model combining the timeless appearance of the original with modern technologies and the highest-quality materials meeting the demands of today’s customers.

Honest watchmaking craftsmanship without unnecessary ornamentation

The PRIM Spartak watch is a perfect example of honest watchmaking craftsmanship that does without excessive ornamentation and decorative elements lacking deeper meaning. The case of the new model respects the original proportions, while its size has been adapted to contemporary trends. The use of a manufacture movement has made it possible to preserve the lightness and elegance of the case. Thanks to this, the model is suitable not only for men, but also for women who appreciate the current unisex watch style.

Details that create the whole

The dial has gained a more modern touch thanks to baton hands and an enlarged subdial whose minimalist form corresponds with the overall concept of the watch. The crown is decorated with the pictogram of the Nové Město arches, symbolising the place of origin and creation of the model. Each strap, designed and produced by Brašnářství Tlustý especially for this edition, is carefully matched to the dial colour variant. Four basic colour variations are available.
